The Severnside Institute for Psychotherapy (SIP) was founded in May 1985 by a group of psychoanalytic psychotherapists. Their aims are to promote and develop psychoanalytic psychotherapy in Bristol, Bath, and the surrounding areas of the South and South West.

SIP is a member of the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC), a professional association which represents the profession of psychoanalytic psychotherapy.
